KOVALAM
Kovalam is the top beach destination of Kerala. It is 16 Km from Trivandrum and draws thousands of tourists from all over India and the world. This tourism destination offers a variety water sports opportunities, great seafood, and Ayurvedic massages and treatments. Kovalam is famous for its scenic beauty and range of water sports which attracts the adventure freaks. The crescent-shaped beaches of Kovalam can be divided in three parts. The southern most beaches, and the most popular, is the Lighthouse Beach. Further south on the beach one can have a spectacular view of the Vizhinzam mosque. Photography is prohibited here. The middle beach is called Hawah. Each morning this beach acts as a base for the local fisherman. The northern most beach, Samudra, is least affected of all by the changing times. It is dotted with few rudimentary wooden fishing vessels.

Vizhinjam Lighthouse: In Kovalam there is a light house on the shores of Arabian Sea. If you can climb on the Vizhinjam Lighthouse, you can enjoy a captivating view of the beautiful village of Kovalam
Water Sports in Kovalam: Water sports in Kovalam are one of the major tourist attractions of Kovalam.It is the ideal place for swimming, kayaking, skiing and surfing .Indulge yourself in sunbath on the exotic beaches or just swim in the blue waters of Arabian Sea.
Sankhumugham Beach: Located 8 kms from Thiruvananthapuram city, the Shankhumugham Beach is a favourite haunt of sunset watchers. 'Matsya Kanyaka', a gigantic 35 m long sculpture of a mermaid and a restaurant shaped like a starfish are the major attractions here.
Padmanabhapuram Palace: The Padmanabhapuram Palace in Kovalam is near the Veli hills. Nestled at the foot of the Veli hills this palace is a remarkable artwork. It is a beautiful specimen of woodwork reflecting the Kerala architecture and it was the residential palace of the Travancore rulers.

The nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport, 14 km away to Kovalam. Many International Airlines are operating flights to and from here. Indian Airlines and Jet airways are operating domestic flights. There are direct flights to New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore.
